Hello everyone, and welcome to The Cartoon Church, Issue #003. I thought you might enjoy a couple of Christmas cartoons, at the very least.
Admin notices and misc news
Printable cracker. Free last-minute Christmas craft activity featuring my cartoons, which you can find here: Printable Cracker.
Church Times cartoon. This year’s, titled ‘The Churchyard - on Christmas Eve’, is now available. It’s a half page cartoon and always takes me for ever to complete, but I’m quite pleased with it this time around. You can see it in the actual newspaper (page 15) if you subscribe, or online here: The Churchyard (there is a paywall, but you get two free articles).
Thank you for all the thoughtful messages and comments on Issue #002, in which I talked about the Makin report and my church-related cartooning. I’m (still) way behind on replies, but hope to respond to everyone if I can. Sorry to have been so slow with it.
Carols playlist. On Spotify. I put this together a year or two back - it’s carols by various artists. A mixture, but not choral / traditional. You will deeply dislike at least some of it. Carols, Various artists
This newsletter continues to be irregular, which I think will always be the case. However, if you’d like more, I have good news:
Diagram Club. If you like the idea of getting a email from me more regularly than this one, then I’m pleased to say that my Diagram Club newsletter is a weekly (if I can use this word) phenomenon. There are regular features each week, including cycling / topical / other cartoons, a Household Problem of the week, annotated photos from places I’ve been, and a ‘colour of the week’, which is, unashamedly, just filler. It even has bespoke paragraph breaks - no expense has been spared. Please subscribe here if that sounds like it might be of interest. You can even read the back issues if you’d like to catch up. There is a Diagram Club Paid version with extra recommended-but-optional behind-the-scenes info, but the newsletter itself is entirely free.
Advertisement feature (remarkably brief)
Becoming a paid Cartoon Church licence-holder allows you to use cartoonchurch.com cartoons in your church publications, and makes my work possible. Thank you!
Well, that’s just about it. If you’d like more Christmas cartoons you will find some on the CartoonChurch website: Christmas cartoons.
Thank you for reading and for your support in 2024.
I hope you have a very Happy Christmas.
Dave

Looking forward to listening to the Carols playlist. For some reason, the declaration that “You will deeply dislike at least some of it” immediately convinced me that I must listen to it 😂
